Troy 5Th Best Michigan Suburb: Niche.com
Troy ranked fifth in the state, according to Niche, trailing only Ann Arbor, East Grand Rapids, Bloomfield Township and Beverly Hills.

TROY, MI — How do you define a great place to live? According to Niche.com, which just released the 2017 Best Suburbs to Live in America rankings, there are several factors that a suburb is judged on, including school quality, amount of crime, housing trends, employment stats and access to amenities.
Based on those factors, as well as data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the FBI and the Bureau of Labor Statistics and more, Niche came up with the Top 100 suburbs in America and in Michigan. Troy ranked fifth in the state, according to Niche, trailing only Ann Arbor, East Grand Rapids, Bloomfield Township and Beverly Hills.
“I love Troy, Michigan,” one Niche user wrote. “There are great shopping centers and malls around this city. Downtown Rochester and Birmingham are so close to Troy, which is wonderful. I love the Troy nature center, lovely to walk on a nice day. Troy is a very safe city which is important to me. New businesses go up all the time, lots of food options also. Overall I think Troy is one of the best suburbs in America. I would love to raise a family here one day.”

Carmel, Indiana landed in the No. 1 spot nationwide. Ann Arbor had the highest national ranking of any Michigan community at No. 7. Troy was 94th.
