The City of Troy now has a "Harlem Shake" video it can call its very own.
Gloria Buccini of Troy, together with a group of fellow seniors, stars in an ode to the "Shake" filmed Friday at the Troy Community Center, wearing an Easter rabbit hat.

"I saw it for the first time this morning and I said, 'That looks like a lot of fun,'" Buccini said of the "Shake" concept, a popular online meme. "I'm the type to do anything. ... It's nice to be able to publicize Troy and I had a great time moving around."
The meme is a short video, roughly 30 seconds, beginning with a close-up of one person while others around them remain oblivious. A jump cut then takes viewers to a full-blown party, complete with wild costumes and uptempo dance music.

The term "Harlem Shake" refers to a 2012 song of the same name, which turned into a smash hit this past February when five teens from Australia uploaded a 30-second video to YouTube and then watched it go viral.
The video in Troy was organized and filmed by Katie Harrington, a Michigan State University senior student in the journalism program.
