Drunken Driving, Driving Under the Influence Incidents: Feb. 15-20

The following information about recent incidents of drunken driving and driving under the influence is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media release. Note: In Michigan, the blood alcohol content legal limit is .08 percent.

• A 51-year-old Sterling Heights man was arrested and faces a charge of operating while intoxicated after a citizen reported him driving on Wattles Road. A Troy Police Officer stopped the driver on Wattles and John R Road at 11:30 p.m. on Friday, noting that the driver had a flushed face, slurred speech and smelled of intoxicants. Police said he failed sobriety tests and breath tested at .18 percent. The man has one prior drunken driving conviction, police added.
• The 19-year-old Detroit man was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated after Troy Police Officers said they observed his car crossing over lane markers several times early Saturday man. The man, who was pulled over at Interstate-75 and Adams Road at 4:37 a.m., had slurred speech, bloodshot/glassy eyes and was unable to correctly recite the alphabet, according to police. Police added that the man breath tested at .08 percent.
• A 22-year-old Troy man was arrested early Sunday morning at Wattles Road and John R Road and faces an operating while intoxicated charge. Police said that they stopped the man, who later breath tested at .16 percent, after watching him through a light — failing to proceed despite a green light. When pulled over, police said he had very bloodshot, glassy eyes, smelled of intoxicants and appeared to be confused. His vehicle was turned over to a sober passenger.
• A car which was found stopped,but running, not in a parking space, early on Sunday morning contained a man who was later arrested by Troy Police. Officers sent to the area of Big Beaver Road and Rochester Road noted that both the driver and passenger were sleeping in the car. After being initially unable to awake the vehicles occupants, the passenger woke up and eventually officers were able to wake up the driver. According to police, the driver the thought he was on M-21 and that it was 2:30 am; it was actually after 4:15 am. Police said that the driver smelled of intoxicants and failed sobriety tests, later breath testing at .11 percent. Police added that marijuana was found in the car.
• A 38-year-old Troy man was arrested after Troy Police Officers said that they saw him crossing lane markers, braking for no apparent reason and traveling at 28 miles-per-hour in a posted 45 mile-per-hour zone. After being pulled over at Rochester Road and Long Lake Road, shortly before 5 a.m. on Sunday, police said that the driver had poor balance, slurred speech and smelled of intoxicants. He was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated and breath tested at .12 percent.
• Troy Police arrested a 23-year-old Clinton Township woman after they said she was operating a vehicle while intoxicated at Big Beaver Road and John R Road. Police said that at 12:11 a.m. Tuesday, the woman was stopped while driving without headlights. Police said that she was unaware that she was driving without headlights and noted her slurred speech, glassy/bloodshot eyes and smell of intoxicants. She was arrested and breath tested at .12 percent.
• A 34-year-old Rochester Hills man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs and possession of marijuana on Tuesday at 9:46 p.m. Police said that the man was pulled over for a traffic violation at Interstate-75 and Big Beaver Road. A blood test was administered and results are pending, according to police.
