Troy Police Arrest 3 Suspects In Kohl's Retail Fraud Case

Three people from Warren were arrested following a suspected retail fraud at a Troy Kohl's.

TROY, MI — Three Warren residents were recently arrested by Troy Police after allegedly robbing a John R Road Kohl’s department store. A 39-year-old woman and a 17-year-old woman were charged with retail fraud in connection with the incident, according to Troy Police Department reports. A 15-year-old boy was also charged with retail fraud, but released to the care of his grandfather.

Police reports said the trio entered the Kohl’s shortly before 5 p.m. on April 18. They took more than $500 worth of merchandise and store loss prevention officers attempted to stop them. A fight between the Warren residents and employees, including the store manager, followed but the suspects were able to escape, according to police reports.

Troy police officers were called to the scene and stopped the suspects, who fled in a white 2011 Dodge Caravan, on southbound John R Road north of Fourteen Mile Road. Officers ordered the Warren residents out of the vehicle, they complied and were arrested without incident. Reports said officers were able to recover the stolen items from the Dodge Caravan.

Police discovered the 39-year-old woman felony warrant out of Macomb County for breaking and entering, and misdemeanor warrants out of Fraser for occupying a park after hours. The woman also had an outstanding warrant in Sterling Heights for failure to appear in court for a retail fraud – 2nd Degree. Troy police charged her with She was with retail fraud 2nd degree in connection with the Kohl’s incident.

The 17-year old suspect was also charged with retail fraud - 2nd degree as well as aggravated felony assault for slapping the Kohl’s manager, reports said. The 15-year-old suspect was charged with retail fraud 2nd degree and released into the custody of his grandfather, who signed the Oakland County Juvenile Petition Form agreeing to bring him to juvenile court upon notice.
