Troy Police Arrest Birmingham Man For Larceny

A Birmingham man is accused of stealing Macy's department store employee's wallet.

TROY, MI — A 44-year-old Birmingham was arrested and charged with larceny from a building on May 1 after allegedly stealing a Macy’s department store employee’s wallet. Police reports said the employee set his wallet on a display case while he was looking to purchase a new one.

The employee, however, was paged to go to another area of the store and forgot about his wallet sitting on the display case. According to police reports, the Birmingham man was working in the same area and allegedly took the wallet. Loss prevention officers at Macy’s conducted an investigation and apprehended the Birmingham man.

Reports said he allegedly took $393 from the wallet, which was later recovered with the employee’s identification, a bank card and medical card, among other items. Troy officers arrived and arrested the Birmingham man.

Reckless Driving on I-75
A 54-year-old Mt. Morris man was charged with reckless driving and several other offenses after allegedly leaving the scene of an accident on northbound I-75 on May 1. According to Troy Police reports, officers observed a traffic crash involving the Mt. Morris man at about 9:30 a.m.

Reports said he continued northbound after the accident at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Troy officers were able to stop the man, who was driving a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville. Officers saw an open container of alcohol spilling onto the rear floorboard directly behind the driver, reports said.

Officers later discovered the Mt. Morris man was driving on a suspended license. He also had a warrant for his arrest out of South Haven for failing to Appear in Court - Carrying a Prohibited Weapon. Officers then arrested the man and he was charged with Failure to Stop and Identify at an Accident, Failure to Report an Accident, Reckless Driving, Driving While License Suspended – 2nd Offense, and Transporting an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle.
