Police: Suspicious Man Claimed to be the Cable Guy
Suspicious man knocked on Troy resident's door on Tuesday afternoon.

The following information was obtained from the Troy Police Department on Thursday. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Assaults
No one was injured after a 17-year-old boy from Troy used a Daisy BB gun rifle to shoot out the back window of a passing car on Century Drive, according to Troy Police. The 17-year-old, who was a passenger in a friend's vehicle on Monday at about 3:15 p.m., when the incident occurred, was arrested for malicious destruction of property and assault and battery. The 17 year-old and the occupants of the vehicle shot at do not know each other or have any other connection.
Suspicious Incidents
A suspicious man knocked on a woman's door on the 2000 block of East Square Lake Road on Tuesday about 3:18 p.m., according to Troy Police.Â

The suspicious man is described as Caucasian, approximately 45 years old, 5'10" tall and 220 pounds. He had salt and pepper hair, a receding hairline and a goatee. He wore glasses and a blue jacket with a logo on the chest area.
The woman said she was home alone when a man knocked on her door and stated that he was there to work on her cable television. The complainant does not have cable television and refused to let the man into her home.

Home InvasionsÂ
Kitchen cabinets, a countertop and loose wiring were stolen this weekend, from a home on East Maple Road that is undergoing renovation. There were no signs of forced entry.Â
Larcenies from Autos
A woman at Macy's (500 W. 14 Mile Rd., Troy) reported the catalytic converter was cut off and stolen from her Chevrolet Venture while the vehicle was parked in the employee lot there on Tuesday.
Malicious Destruction of Property
Pry marks were found on on the driver’s side door of a company owned Chevrolet Malibu at United States Medical Management (500 Kirts Blvd., Troy) on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. Entry was not made into the vehicle and no property was stolen.
Retail Fraud
- Troy Police issued an 18-year-old woman from Detroit a citation for third-degree retail fraud after they said she shoplifted two shirts, two jackets and three handbags worth $216.99 from Sears (300 W. 14 Mile Rd., Troy) on Monday afternoon.
- Troy Police arrested a 65-year-old woman from West Bloomfield for second-degree retail fraud after they said she hid $40.94 worth of merchandise in her purse and left the store, Home Goods (600 John R Road, Troy), without paying for it. She is currently on probation for a previous retail fraud.
- Troy Police arrested a 16-year-old boy from Hamtramck for third-degree retail fraud after they said he shoplifted two pairs of jeans worth $95 from JCPenney (700 W. 14 Mile Rd., Troy) on Monday night. The boy had gone into a fitting room and put the jeans on under his own, according to police.
- Troy Police issued a 24-year-old woman from Berkley a citation for third-degree retail fraud after they said she shoplifted four t-shirts and four-bottles of nail polish worth $92 from Kohl's (1265 Coolidge Hwy., Troy) on Tuesday night. The woman concealed the items in her purse, according to police.
Credit, Check, Identity Theft, Other FraudÂ
- Two separate reports were made this week that fraudulent tax returns had been filed using the personal information of Troy residents on Hilltop and Hycliffe.
- A resident of Hylane was notified by her credit union that her debit card number has been used to make a fraudulent purchase in the United Kingdom earlier in February.Â
