Woman Found Dead In Closet In Troy In Apparent Homicide

Police say the 61-year-old woman was believed to be missing. She was found dead in a closet of a mobile home park in Troy.

TROY, MI — Troy police have found a missing woman dead in a closet at the Troy Villa mobile home park Wednesday night.

The 61-year-old woman was found in the mobile home after police were called for a welfare check. Investigators believe she was killed within the past couple of days and then put in the closet, Troy police said.

“Ultimately, officers located the missing female deceased in the residence. There had been efforts made to conceal the body and obvious trauma was observed. It was apparent that the female was a victim of homicide,” Troy Police shared.

The cause of death will be determined by the Oakland County Medical Examiner's officer after an autopsy is performed later Thursday.

A relative who lives in Oak Park was taken into custody and a person who also lives at the Troy mobile home was brought in for questioning.

“The victim had been a resident of Troy for several years and there had been no significant law enforcement contact at the Shelly address,” police said. Further information regarding the identity of the victim is not presently being released in order to allow ample time for additional family notifications.”
