You're Gonna Need a Bigger Salt Truck for these Snow Sculptures

Some people spend their "snow days" sledding or building a fort. Ed Carnes of Troy spent his building snow sculptures. And all week long, cars full of people have stopped by his front yard to show their appreciation for it.

Carnes, who started building in the snow 30 years ago in his hometown of Royal Oak, started building a 32-foot long, 12-foot wide sculpture of a dragon together with house mate Evan Caldrone late Tuesday night.

Along with a lion which had been sculpted by the pair on Saturday, Carnes said there wasn't much snow left in their yard by the time they finished Wednesday morning at 4 a.m., after five hours of work.

Carnes said that 200 people have stopped by over the past week after driving past on Rochester Road, between Stephenson Highway and Maple Road. People of all ages have taken their pictures next to the sculptures, which he said that he likes to see.
