You Voted: Knapp's Donuts is 2012 Best Place for Doughnuts in Troy

owner May Lee was all smiles Friday morning when she found out Troy Patch readers had voted her business the in Troy this week.

"It's nice to be recognized," Lee said, adding that she truly enjoys spending time with her customers, many of whom are regulars.

"It's a place to come and chit chat," she said. "Everyone is like family."

"From my vast experience in tasting and testing baked goods," said Officer Andy Breidenich, a member of the and an avid Knapp's fan, "I have found Knapp's Donuts to be the best doughnuts in the metro Detroit area!"

Out of seven businesses in Troy that sell doughnuts, Knapp's Donuts received 42 percent of the total votes in our unscientific poll – more than twice as much as any other business on the list.

in Rochester was also runner-up in this week's "What's the Best" poll on , coming in second after in downtown Rochester.
