Highland Man Airlifted to Hospital After Crashing into Tree

The following information was supplied by the Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Highland substation. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Deputies were called to the scene of an accident Jan. 11 at 1:47 a.m. after a man crashed into a tree on Milford Road, north of Wardlow.

According to a report from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the driver, a 43-year-old Highland resident, was trapped in the car. His car was the only one involved in the accident.

The man was trapped in the car for more than an hour and a half while the fire department worked to remove him from the car, the report states.

An airlift was requested, and the man was taken by helicopter to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital. His injuries were found to be less serious than initially thought and he is in stable condition, the report states.

The accident remains under investigation, and the report notes that alcohol appears to be a factor. A warrant was obtained for a blood draw of the driver at the hospital.
