Large Section Of M-59 In Oakland Co. Undergoes Construction
The $8 million project is expected to last through the summer and fall months, road officials said.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — Road crews began working on a large section of M-59 in Oakland County on Tuesday.
A 10-mile stretch of M-59 between Milford and Pontiac Lake roads in Highland and White Lake townships will be down to just one lane, road officials said.
The closure is to allow crews to resurface the roadway, replace guardrails, add pavement markings and upgrade sidewalks to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), road officials said.

Crews will work in 1 to 2-mile segments, starting at the west end of the project. Work will begin between Milford Road and Duck Lake Road, then crews will move east through the summer and fall months.
"Across Michigan, we are moving dirt and fixing the damn roads to grow our economy, helping Michiganders go to work, drop their kids off at school and run errands safely," Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said. "By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads and 1,900 bridges, supporting thousands of good-paying, local jobs without raising taxes by a dime. This year, let’s build on our momentum to pass a bipartisan local road funding plan so we can keep fixing our damn roads and creating good-paying, local jobs."
