Lakeland Students Excel in DECA, Robotics and Quiz Bowl Events

27 students from Lakeland High School represented Michigan at the International Career Development Conference.

- Out of the 27, Murphy Beltowski and Blair Davis placed first in the Gold Merit Award Project.
Lakeland High School's Heroes of Tomorrow Robotics (HOT) team finished as finalists of the Curie Division in the FIRST World Championship.
In April, students and mentors from the HOT team participated in a packed four days of competition and conferences that included building and game strategy, programming, electronics, and team structuring.

- The HOT team finished with an 6 and 2 record and was the first selection by the 3rd seed alliance, captained by team 4814 (United Robotics of London) a defensive power house. The alliance was completed by team 1918 (NC Gears) a sweeper and climber.
The partnership of these three teams brought the third seed alliance to an unexpected finish as division finalists.
Eight students from Lakeland High School participated in the 27th Michigan Social Studies Olympiad in the Social Studies Bowl event.
- Lakeland had two teams competing with the champion team including students Grayson Thomas, Megan McDonnell, Evan Wallace and Seth Farmer.
