Tee It Up at the White Lake Township Library
Help the White Lake Township Library raise money for programs while enjoying a game of mini golf with your kids Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. at library.
By Larry Ostrowski
White Lake's library will be transformed Β Sunday, March 3, into a miniature golf course. And everyone who stops by this Sunday for a round will be helping the library and itβs Friends group to raise funds for pre-School LeapFrog materials.
Library director Larry Ostrowski came across the idea for the course on a blog after a Massachusetts library held a similar fund-raiser back in 2008. Ostrowski said no libraries in Michigan had tried such a venture, and he thought White Lake would be the perfect place to introduce it. "I thought it sounded intriguing," he said. The miniature golf course winds through the entire library, including a hole that stretches from the main floor to the lower level. "A tube will take your ball to the downstairs," Ostrowski said.
In all, 11 of the holes can be found on the main level, and the last seven holes will spread through the basement.
Visitors can find a silent auction with various items up for bid, courtesy of local businesses and patrons. Β Light refreshments will also be available.
βItβs hard to believe that this is our 5th year of offering this unique event. Attendance has grown every year and we expect to top 300 attendees for this yearβs event, said Ostrowski."
Greens fees are $5.00 but children play free if accompanied by a paying adult.
The event will run from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
