Kids Can Work on Their Slice at Wyandotte Shores Golf Course

Wyandotte Shores Golf Course introduced new golf lessons for youths over 10 years old.

This is the first year Wyandotte's Department of Recreation, Leisure and Culture will offer an opportunity for children over 10 years old to work on their swing.

Wyandotte Shores Golf Course has already begun signing up boys and girls for golf lessons with a local instructor.

Wyandotte Shores Golf Course is a 9-hole regulation course and features all the hallmarks of Michigan golf, according to Theresa Jamula of the Department of Recreation, Leisure and Culture in the City of Wyandotte.

Little golfers can choose from three sessions, which contain five lessons with instructor Jake Kieronski. Lessons are from 10 to 11 a.m. on these dates:

  • July 9, 11, 16, 18 and 20. Deadline for registration is July 7.
  • August 6, 8, 13, 15 and 17. Deadline for registration is August 4.
  • August 20, 22, 27, 29 and 31. Deadline for registration is August 18.
Kieronski is the head professional teaching pro at Wyandotte Shores. He is a graduate of the Keiser University with a degree in sport management with a concentration in golf, according to Jamula.

Register at the Wyandotte Recreation Office in the Yack Arena, 3131 Third St. 

Sessions are $55 per child. The Wyandotte Recreation Office accepts cash or checks only.

Golfers should bring soft-soled, comfortable and supportive athletic shoes, golf clubs and golf balls.
