Storm Did Not Cause Power Outage in Wyandotte
If Wednesday's thunderstorm didn't knock the power out in Wyandotte, than what did?

Rod Lesko, acting general manager of Wyandotte Municipal Services, said a power outage that occurred during a thunderstorm Wednesday night was the result of a mere coincidence.
As rain filled streets and sidewalks the cause of the outage remained perfectly dry underground. Lesko said a failed 15,000 volt underground cable caused about 1,000 buildings and residences  to lose power for up to three hours.
Crews are working to fix the failed cable as a back up system, or redundancy, supplies power to Wyandotte.
Several municipalities and downtown businesses experienced a loss of power.
Peter Rose, owner of Chelsea's and The Willow Tree, said nearly all traffic lights on Biddle Avenue were out. Rose closed his store two hours early due to the outage.
Lesko said the best solution to fixing this problem is to replace the cable as soon as possible.
Yack Arena also lost power, but a large generator kept the arena up and running until power was restored. Commencements for Roosevelt High School are expected to continue as planned.
