• WCC launches ready-to-start business startup program (wemu.org) — Aspiring Ypsilanti entrepreneurs can apply now for Washtenaw Community College’s free Winter Startup Bootcamp, which helps residents build a customer-ready business in five months. The hybrid program, serving Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor and all Washtenaw County residents, offers intensive mentorship, is competitive with only 20 spots, and has an application deadline of January 6.
   

• Ypsilanti rep aims to ‘claw back' $100M grant for Los Alamos, University of Michigan project (mlive.com) — A proposed $1.2 billion high-performance computing and data center campus in Ypsilanti Township is facing a major challenge as Rep. Jimmie Wilson Jr. moves to rescind a $100 million state grant. Local leaders and residents say the University of Michigan and Los Alamos lab haven’t been transparent about impacts on utilities, parks, and emergency services, while the university insists resources won’t be strained.
   

• Washtenaw United: Growing Hope in Ypsilanti looks back on 2025 and ahead to 2026 (wemu.org) — An Ypsilanti-based nonprofit, Growing Hope, is expanding its work to fight food insecurity and build “food sovereignty” through gardens, farmers’ markets, and direct SNAP support like the Ypsi SNAP Gap program. Executive director Julius Buzzard explains how community-powered food access, monthly brunches at the Ypsilanti Farmers’ Marketplace, and deeper collaboration across Washtenaw County can reshape local systems in 2026.
