At 10:54 a.m. Tuesday, the Wright County Sheriff's Office communication's center received a call from the 700 block of Crossroads Campus Drive in Buffalo for a report of shots fired. Law enforcement units from the Buffalo Police Department and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene — Allina Health Clinic.

According to the Wright County Sheriff's Office, the location was evacuated and several people were transported to area hospitals for injuries. One victim did not survive. The suspect, Ulrich, was ultimately taken into custody.

Wright County Sheriff Sean Deringer, who described the aftermath of the shooting as a "horrible looking scene," said a suspicious package was found in the clinic after the shooting victims were removed.

A prior police report shows that Ulrich threatened to carry out a mass shooting at the clinic in October 2018, with a doctor telling investigators that Ulrich had talked about "shooting, blowing things up, and practicing different scenarios of how to get revenge." He said Ulrich told him he dreamed about exacting revenge on the people who "tortured" him, referring to issues he had with back surgeries and the medication he was prescribed for them.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Office, the Buffalo Police Department, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the ATF continue to process evidence and interview potential witnesses from Tuesday's shooting at the Allina Clinic in Buffalo.
