MN Public School Teacher Faces Child Porn Charges

A Mankato man was indicted this week for using a messaging app to distribute and receive child pornography.

MINNEAPOLIS — A Mankato man has been indicted for using a messaging app to distribute and receive child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger.

Daniel John Janke, 54, faces one count of distribution of child pornography and three counts of receipt of child pornography.

Between Oct. 14, 2023, through Jan. 29, 2024, Daniel John Janke, 54, used "Kik," a messaging and chat application, to send and receive images and videos containing child sexual abuse material, according to authorities.

Janke made his initial appearance on Aug. 29 in U.S. District Court before Magistrate Judge Tony N. Leung.

The case against Janke was the result of an investigation conducted by the FBI. Assistant U.S. Attorney Emily A. Polachek is the lead prosecutor on the case.
