2 Eastview Graduates Named Winners in Final Round of National Merit Scholarship Contest

Zane Larwood and Lamisa Chowdhury were two of nine Apple Valley and Eastview students to receive scholarships.

Two Class of 2012 graduates are among about 2,000 additional high school seniors nationwide to win a college-sponsored scholarship from the prestigious National Merit Scholarship program, according to a news release from the organization. About 2,500 were announced as winners in May, as well.

The National Merit Scholarship Corporation released the names of the college-sponsored scholarship winners, its final group of winners in the annual scholarship program.

  • Zane Larwood, National Merit Fordham University Scholarship; probable career field: foreign service
  • Lamisa Chowdhury, National Merit Carleton College Scholarship; probable career field: medicine/mathematics

Most of these scholarships are renewable annually during four years of college, at anywhere from $500 to $2,000 per year.

One and 10 Eastview students , based on PSAT scores. All in the program, based on their regular SAT scores and outstanding academic performance.

Nine have received scholarships. Mariel Supina of Eastview , and Maren Loe of Apple Valley . Five students .

About 8,100 students received some type of scholarship from the program, either corporate-sponsored, college-sponsored or National Merit-sponsored.
