3 Eastview High School Students Receive Eagle Scout Award

Nationwide, only 2 percent of scouts attain the Eagle Scout rank.

students Eric Boeshart, Joe Dolan and Erik Nelson have earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers—the Eagle Scout Award.

All three were recognized in a ceremony on Sunday at in Apple Valley. 

Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community related service project.

Nationwide, only 2 percent of Boy Scouts attain the Eagle Scout rank. They join others who have become Eagle Scouts, among them, former President Gerald Ford, Neil Armstrong, Steven Spielberg and Walter Cronkite.  

Boeshart’s Eagle Scout project was completed at SOTV, and involved transplanting three trees to make room for three community gardens.

Dolan’s project involved transforming the library courtyard at into a perennial garden with an I-Spy game for the students. 

Nelson's project consisted of landscaping the north entrance to SOTV.  

All three are members of Boy Scout Troop 298, attend SOTV and are juniors at Eastview High School.  Boeshart is the son of Susan and Frank Boeshart, Dolan is the son of Paul and Linda Dolan and Nelson is the son of Rick and Kris Nelson all of Apple Valley.
