5 Things Rosemount Residents Should Know: Bring Food to the Parent-Teacher Conference at RHS
There's plenty to do in Rosemount and vicinity today, from parent-teacher conferences at RHS to a new show at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center to a library book sale in Eagan.

- The National Weather Service is predicting a 20 percent chance of more showers today. Otherwise, we can expect mostly sunny skies, with a high near 62, and west-northwest winds between 6 and 14 mph. You might need an extra blanket on the bed tonight: The low will be around 44, with partly cloudy skies.
- Fall parent-teacher conferences begin today at Rosemount High School (and continue through Friday). The Site Council will accept donations of food for the counseling office’s food shelf, which provides food for students in need. The council is asking for donations of “kid-friendly” foods that require little preparation, including protein and granola bars, beef jerky, macaroni and cheese and cans of soup.
- The Friends of the Westcott Library fall book sale begins today at the Wescott Library in Eagan. The sale begins at 10 a.m., and continues through Sunday (which is bag day). Come and snag enough books to keep you going through the winter.
- “,” based on a classic horror novel by Susan Hill, opens at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center. Tonight’s show begins at 7:30; the show continues Friday through Sunday and Oct. 21-22. Tickets are $20 for adults and $17 for students and seniors 62 and older.
- An opening-night celebration for “1968,” a new exhibit at the Minnesota History Center in St. Paul, will run from 7 to 9:30 tonight. Learn about the origins of the peace symbol, make your own peace pendant and participate in the 1968 “trivia smackdown.” Tickets are $18 for the public or $15 for Minnesota Historical Society members.
