5 Things Rosemount Residents Should Know: It's a 3-Day School Week
Here are some tidbits to know today, Oct. 17.

- We’ll see sunny skies today, with a high near 55 and west-northwest winds from 8 to 11 mph, increasing to 17 to 20 mph – with possible gusts as high as 28 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight’s low will be around 37, with continued winds from the west-northwest.
- A will be offered beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Rosemount Middle School. The cost is $39; for more information, call (651) 423-7920, or register online at the District 196 Community Education website.
- A lecture and discussion on “” will begin at 4 p.m. at the Galaxie Library in Apple Valley. Topics will include government bailouts of banks in 2007 and 2008, and whether it’s possible to prevent future crises. Admission is free.
- It’s a short week for students in District 196 schools; all students have Thursday and Friday off for the state teachers’ convention. If they don’t want to get up this morning, remind them that they’ve got only three wake-ups this week.
- Today is national Gaudy Day. I am not entirely sure what this means, but I don’t think anyone would be allowed to object if you wore a tiara to work today, or some glittery eye shadow. The gaudier, the better, probably.
