5 Things Rosemount Residents Should Know Today: School Board Audit, Easy Comfort Southern Cooking

Things to know today, Oct. 24.

  1. We’ll start off the week with some nice fall weather, the National Weather Service says: a high today near 60, with sunny skies and calm winds, increasing to 6 mph from the west later in the day. There’s a 50 percent chance of rain tonight after 1 a.m., with otherwise mostly cloudy skies and a low around 47.  
  2. The District 196 School Board meets at 6 tonight at Dakota Ridge School in Apple Valley. On the agenda: recognition of the district’s National Merit Scholarship students and National Council of Teachers of English scholarship recipients, and discussion of the fiscal year 2010-11 audited comprehensive annual financial report. The public is welcome. 
  3. The Rosemount Parks and Recreation Commission also meets today, at 7 p.m. in Rosemount City Hall. The agenda includes a review of the parks and recreation fees and fee policy, and the director’s report.  
  4. A class on cooking “” will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. at Falcon Ridge Middle School in Apple Valley. The fee is $25; to register, head for the District 196 Community Education website. For more information, call (651) 423-7920.     
  5. Today is not only National Bologna Day, but also National Good and Plenty Day. If those were the only two things one were allowed to eat today, some of us would spend the day fasting.
