5 Things Rosemount Should Know: Join a History Book Club or Roast Weiners by the Fire
Yes, there's more rain in the forecast today, but it could be worse; we could have gotten socked with snow like Colorado. Also: If you're interested in reading about local history, there's a meeting today you need to attend.

- The National Weather Service predicts a 20 percent chance of showers before 10 this morning, then partly sunny skies with a high near 48. Winds will be calm, becoming west-northwest between 6 and 9 mph. Tonight’s low will hit 34, with partly cloudy skies and light winds.
- The Rosemount Historical Society, in collaboration with the Robert Trail Library, is organizing a history book club. If you’re interested, bring ideas and questions to an organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Robert Trail Library. For more information, call John Loch at (952) 255-8545.
- Bring the family to Valleywood Golf Course in Apple Valley at 5 p.m. for a and spooky fun by the fire. There will be stories, games and crafts, along with a weiner roast and s’mores. Dress for the weather (see above) and bring a flashlight; activities are appropriate for children ages 5 to 9. Admission is $4 per person or $12 per family.
- Are you a McRib fanatic? You know they’re (temporarily) back, right? Did you hear that some experts say they’re one of the reasons for a recent 22 percent rise in hog futures? This all makes our neighbors in Iowa very happy. And also those of us who love the McRib.
- And today is apparently Sylvia Plath Day. It’s also Simon Le Bon’s 53rd birthday. If you can think of an odder couple, I'd like to hear about it.
