5 Things Rosemount Residents Should Know: Learn About Acceptance and Halloween Storytime
The word "snow" has made its way back into the forecast, but not until later tonight. So head for the Steeple Center and listen to Oral Roberts' gay grandson speak about acceptance and hope.

- There’s no rain in today’s National Weather Service forecast, but temperatures will remain autumnlike, with a high near 50, mostly cloudy skies and light north-northwest winds. Rain returns this evening, with a slight chance before 1 a.m., then a chance of rain and snow showers. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, with a low near 35 and mostly calm winds.
- Andrew’s Round Table, a group organized by Jeff and Lori Wilfahrt of Rosemount – whose son, Cpl. Andrew Wilfahrt, died in Afghanistan early this year – is sponsoring a visit by Randy Roberts Potts, the gay grandson of televangelist Oral Roberts, to Minnesota this week. at 7 tonight at the Steeple Center in Rosemount. Admission is free.
- The Rosemount Youth Commission will meet at 3:45 p.m. in Rosemount City Hall. On the agenda: election of officers and reports from commission members. The public is welcome.
- Halloween storytime for children 8 and younger will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Inver Glen Library in Inver Grove Heights. Children are welcome to wear Halloween costumes for this “not-so-spooky” Halloween program.
- On this day in 1950, Mayo Clinic doctors Edward Calvin Kendall and Philip Showalter Hench, along with Swiss doctor Tadeus Reichstein, were awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for their development of cortisone. Ten years later, on the same day, Calvin Griffith decided to move his Washington Senators baseball team to Minnesota, where they became the Minnesota Twins.
