"Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is the first university in the state approved to offer preparation that leads to licensure as a reading leader.
Reading leader licensure qualifies K-12 reading teachers to support and lead literacy initiatives at the school and district levels.

Licensure requires Master of Arts in Literacy Education Program graduates to develop a portfolio demonstrating application of the reading leader standards. The program is offered at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota’s Minneapolis and Winona campuses; its centers in Rochester, Apple Valley, and Oakdale; and sites in Austin, Otsego and Duluth areas.
The university has been offering literacy education programming since 2004.
