LEGISLATURE OPENS MONDAY: YOUR VOICE and ISSUES WILL BE HEARD.
ONE OF THE MAIN ISSUES IS:
REPLENISHING DEFICIT OF $1.3 BILLION IN UNEMPLOYMENT FUND. Double digit employer payroll-tax increases are expected without action.

We do not want businesses taxed further when there is:

• RECORD SURPLUS: $7.7 billion
• FEDERAL FUNDS: $1 billion
• RESERVES: Billions more

31 STATES HAVE USED CARES ACT AND AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN TO REPLENISH THEIR UNEMPLOYMENT FUND.

OTHER TOP BUSINESS ISSUES:

• TAX COMPETITIVENESS: Allow you to fully re-open without new taxes
• WORKPLACE: Employer control of their own wage/benefit packages
• WORKFORCE: Workers are difficult to find while record numbers are on unemployment and other funding. Businesses want rapid rehiring, nimble retraining and swift upskilling.
• ENERGY: Finding balance between affordability, reliability and cleaner energy. Electricity is 50% carbon free today and will be 66% in 8 years. Since 2008, Minnesota’s energy costs are 20x more than the national average and now 13th most expensive of the states.

We are involved in ISSUES, not candidates. Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce does not have a political action committee (PAC) and our Board does not want one. We do not endorse, assist or take a position on any candidates for any office. We do however host Candidate Forums (one coming this October 2022) to impartially ask candidates at the City, County and Legislative offices for their opinions on questions affecting Apple Valley and our businesses.
