Apple Valley Man Allegedly Causes Fatal Accident in Minnetonka

One woman was killed in the Tuesday morning commute crash, which happened at one of Minnetonka's busiest intersections.

A Burnsville woman died Tuesday morning in a broadside crash at Highway 7 and County Road 101 in Minnetonka, according to the State Patrol.

The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, the report said.

A Ford Super Duty, driven by Apple Valley man Darvin R. Basche, collided with a sedan in the intersection after Basche, who was stopped, pulled out into the intersection when the light was still red.

Elizabeth P. Ketcher, 58, was driving in the far right lane of westbound Highway 7 in a 2005 Toyota Corolla with a green light.

Basche’s vehicle went through the intersection and broadsided Ketcher’s vehicle. Her Corolla spun out and hit a 2011 Nissan Juke that was stopped at a red light on southbound 101. The Juke was then pushed into 2008 Toyota Highlander.

Ketcher was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and pronounced dead at 9:04 a.m. No one else involved in the incident, including Basche, a Deephaven woman and a Plymouth woman, had any apparent injuries.

The State Patrol is investigating the accident.
