Avenue Clothing Store in Apple Valley to Close

The closing is one of more than 100 affecting the women's plus-size apparel chain.

Apple Valley's clothing store soon will shut its doors.

"Store closing" signs are up in the windows of the women's plus-size apparel store located along the north side of County Road 42 just west of Foliage Avenue.

The parent company of Avenue, a chain of about 420 stores, announced earlier this month that it would be keeping about 300 of its stores open and closing the rest, according to a story from the Wall Street Journal.

Versa Capital Management acquired Avenue last month, after the retailer had filed for bankruptcy, the WSJ reported.

Versa's Chief Investment Officer Paul Halpern told the WSJ that the store closings are part of a "fairly typical retail restructuring" in this situation.
