Casting Call: Dakota Valley Symphony Seeking Musicians

The orchestra and chorus is looking for new performers for its 2012 to 2013 season.

The Dakota Valley Symphony is beginning a new season, and the group has put out a call for local musicians and singers to fill out its ranks.

The Dakota Valley Symphony was created in 1986. The nonprofit is sustained by volunteers: The DVS is comprised of a 60-member symphony orchestra, a 40-member mixed chorus and a 90-member Summer Pops orchestra and chorus—all of whom donate their time and talents to the group.

The DVS also offers aspiring local composers a place to premier their work.

Interested instrumentalists should contact founder and Musical Director Stephen Ramsey at sjramz@gmail.com to schedule an audition. No auditions are required to join the chorus, which is open to anyone able to attend rehearsals. Singers can contact Jean Rostollan at jrostollan@comcast.net to receive further information.

Rehearsals begin in September. The season officially begins on Oct. 14, with “An Afternoon at Pops: A Salute to John Williams.” It will conclude in April of 2013.
