Dakota County Fair Kicks off Week of Activity Monday

The annual celebration for the Twin Cities south metro kicks off today and runs through the weekend.

The Dakota County Fair kicks off this week at the county fairgrounds near Farmington, with the county's past on display, as well as its present and future.

With literally hundreds of 4-H and agricultural exhibits, the past is represented by Dakota County's roots in the agricultural landscape. Tractor pulls and other farm-based events also will be featured.

The present includes some of today's top local musical acts on stage nearly every night, as well as demolition derby nights and, oh yeah, celebrity donkey races.

The annual fair also includes a carnival, beer garden, grandstand events and much more.

A complete list of daily events can be found here, and we'll update throughout this week on Patch.
