Dakota Electric Donates $33K To Local Organizations

The money was donated to the Community Action Program, The Salvation Army and 360 Communities to help those in need pay their energy bills.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Dakota Electric Association announced that it recently donated $32,898 to local organizations through its Helping Neighbors program.

The money was donated to the Community Action Program, The Salvation Army and 360 Communities to help those in need pay their energy bills, the association said.

"This money is available because of our members’ generous donations to our Helping Neighbors
program," Greg Miller, Dakota Electric president and chief executive officer, said. "Dakota Electric is merely the conduit and is pleased to make the donations on our members’ behalf."

Since it was created in 1994 by the Helping Neighbors Trust, the program has donated $711,017 to help those in need, the association said.

"There are so many in need and not able to pay their utility bills due to COVID," Miller said. "We
hope those who are able would consider making donations through Helping Neighbors. The program is truly neighbors helping neighbors."

Those who wish to donate can make either a single donation or a recurring monthly donation, which can be put on the user's monthly electric bill, the association said.
