APPLE VALLEY, MN— Independent School District 196's school board is considering shifting middle and high schools back to an in-person learning model, the district said.
The school board is tentatively scheduled to meet March 18 to consider a recommendation to move the schools to in-person beginning some time in April, the district said.
Most middle and high school students are currently in the hybrid-learning model, attending in-person classes two days a week, the district said.

If the school board decides to shift students to in-person learning, they would attend in-person classes four days a week, with Wednesdays continuing to be distanced-learning days, the district said.
The school board met on Wednesday to review COVID-19 case data and other considerations for shifting to an in-person learning model, the district said.

Board members said they want students to return to in-person learning as soon as possible, but don't want to have to shift learning models again, the district said.
The recommendation is based on COVID-19 case rates and the likelihood of staying in the in-person learning model, the district said.
