Eastview Chosen Again for Hennepin Theatre Trust SpotLight Program
Last year, Eastview was recognized for outstanding production of a musical, and one student took home the coveted triple-threat award.
's theater program has again been chosen as a participant in the Hennepin Theatre Trust's SpotLight Musical Theater program, according to a news release.
Eastview's musical theater show this year will be "Beauty and the Beast." It's one of 53 schools in the program, which recognizes high school theater achievements and supports school theater programs across Minnesota.
From District 196, Eagan High School is also a participant.

In June 2012, theater students from each participating school gather at Minneapolis's Orpheum Theatre for the culminating SpotLight Showcase, which features an awards presentation and performances from some of the year's students musicals.
In spring 2011, Eastview theater students performed parts of the musical "Thoroughly Modern Millie" at the showcase. The program also , and student Sarah Cartwright won the triple-threat award, recognizing her as the most outstanding high school musical theater actress in the state.

"Beauty and the Beast" shows for the public are set for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9, 10, 15 and 16, and 2 p.m. Dec. 11.
