Enrollment dropped by 47 students, leaving a total 27,404 students enrolled in the district this year.

Enrollment in District 196 schools remained relatively stable this year compared to last year, based on October enrollment numbers, according to a district press release.

Enrollment dropped by .17 percent—47 students—to 27,404 students, the release says. This includes students in kindergarten through grade 12, center-based special education and early-childhood special education.

The K-12 population on its own makes up most of the enrollees, at 26,160 students this year, the release says; that total is 45 fewer students than last year, and 68 fewer than administrators projected a year ago.
