Ex-Teller Charged with Stealing from Rosemount Bank
Suzanne Mary Determan is accused of stealing $3,200 from First State Bank of Rosemount while working there as a teller earlier this year.

A Savage woman has been charged with theft after authorities say she stole $3,000 from a Rosemount bank where she worked as a teller.
Suzanne Mary Determan, 48, faces a felony theft charge, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
According to the criminal complaint, Determan worked at First State Bank of Rosemount beginning last February. On Sept. 20, bank employees reported a theft.

A bank employee told an officer that he believed that Determan had stolen $3,200 from the bank sometime before Sept. 9. He said a bank computer had flagged a transaction that appeared to have been entered incorrectly, and further investigation found that Determan had made the mistake.
The employee told the officer that on Sept. 12, he told Determan about the mistake and audited her teller cash drawer, finding it $3,200 short, according to the complaint.

Each teller at the bank is issued a tray of money, and each tray is kept secure in the bank vault when it’s not being used, the employee told police. It takes two keys to remove a tray from the vault, one kept by the teller and one by the bank.
Police interviewed Determan on Sept. 20, and she told them she had stolen $2,000 from the bank while she worked there, later admitting that she had taken $3,000, according to the complaint.
She told police that she didn’t steal the additional $200 found in the bank audit because it was the result of two mistakes she made, the complaint says. She said she didn’t report them because she feared it would have initiated an audit that would have discovered the missing $3,000.
Determan told police that she stole the money to pay some bills and help her daughter with college expenses.
