Farmington Man Pleads Guilty In 2021 Non-Fatal Shooting

According to officials, he and his juvenile friend tried to rob their victim during a drug deal.

FARMINGTON, MN — A man pled guilty Monday in connection with a non-fatal shooting in Farmington in 2021, according to a news release from the Dakota County Attorney's Office.

Gage Anderson, 19, of Farmington, pled guilty to one count of first-degree aggravated robbery and will be sentenced April 15, the attorney's office said.

"I am pleased that Mr. Anderson has entered a plea of guilty for the role he played in the commission of this violent crime," Dakota County attorney Kathy Keena said. "We are thankful the victim was not killed and that no other individuals were injured as a result of this incident. We wish the victim continued recovery of his injuries from this shooting."

Farmington Police responded to a report that a man pointed a gun at another person on March 19, 2021, the news release said. According to officials, a woman told police that she saw a car driving in the middle of the road, and she saw the driver point a gun out of the window. A man got out of the car and the driver followed him, pointing the gun at him, officials said.

Police got another report of a car driving erratically, and when they found the car they saw a man with a gunshot wound to the back of his head, the news release said.

In a statement to police at the hospital, the man who was shot said that Anderson and his juvenile friend robbed him during a drug deal, officials said. The man was driving, and the two wanted him to go get more money, he told police. He tried to escape but was shot, police said.

When Anderson and the juvenile were arrested, police said that the juvenile, who was identified as the shooter, had a gun.

The juvenile pled guilty to first-degree attempted murder, was sentenced to 180 months in prison as an Extended Jurisdiction Juvenile, and will be on probation until turning 21, the news release said.
