Farmington Woman, 20, Killed In Crash With Semi Near Mankato
Valerie Kathleen Caven died Friday morning after her car collided with a semi on Highway 14 in Blue Earth County, police said.
LE RAY TOWNSHIP, MN — A 20-year-old Farmington woman was killed Friday morning when her car collided head-on with a semi truck along Highway 14 near Mankato, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The crash happened about 10:03 a.m. Friday at the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 60 in Le Ray Township, Blue Earth County.
Investigators said a 2003 Lexus ES sedan driven by Valerie Kathleen Caven was heading east on Highway 14 when it collided with a westbound 2020 Freightliner semi tractor driven by Kaise Ismail Jama, 46, of St. Peter.

Caven died at the scene. Jama was not injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor, the State Patrol said.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash. Outside agencies assisting included the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office, Mankato Public Safety, Eagle Lake Fire Department, Madison Lake Fire Department, and MnDOT.

The crash remains under investigation.
