First Responders Deliver Baby In AV Fire Department Parking Lot

The baby girl was born in the front seat of her mother's car.

APPLE VALLEY, MN — Apple Valley first responders delivered a baby in the city's fire department parking lot on Monday evening, according to the police departments newsletter Off the Cuff.

Officer Ehmke was dispatched to the Apple Valley Fire Department Station No. 2 around 7 p.m. on Monday, police said. The caller was 38 weeks pregnant and said she was having contractions two minutes apart, according to police.

Ehmke and duty crew from the Fire Department went to go help the woman, whose labor was progressing very quickly, according to police.

Medics were still a few minutes away and first responders ended up delivering the baby in the front seat of the car, authorities said.

Once medics arrived, the mother and baby girl were taken to the hospital, according to police.
