- We’ll have mostly sunny skies today, with a high around 61 and southerly winds from 7 to 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Tonight’s low will hit 43, with continued light south winds.
- That will be perfect weather for tonight’s football game, in which . The game starts at 7 p.m. Bring a sweatshirt, or even a blanket.
- The Dakota County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is looking for volunteers. The group is made up of medical and health care professionals as well as support volunteers who don’t work on the health-care side, but are needed in emergency situations. For more information, or to sign up as a volunteer, visit the MRC’s website.
- Children ages 2 through 12 are invited to stop by the Inver Glen Library in Inver Grove Heights at 10 a.m. today for “Art Attack: Fall.” Participants can create a fall-themed work of art, with ideas and supplies provided by the library.
- On this day in 1959, the first photocopier – the Xerox 914 – was introduced during a demonstration at the Sherry-Netherland Hotel in New York City, aired live on television. The copier made one copy every 26.4 seconds, but it had one unfortunate characteristic: the tendency to catch fire when it overheated. Because of that little problem, Xerox provided what it called a “scorch eliminator” (essentially a small fire extinguisher) with each copier.
