Genesis Jazz Orchestra's Spring Concert Is May 1

The concert will be free to the public and will begin at 4 p.m. at Rosemount's Community Center Auditorium.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Genesis Jazz Orchestra, an ensemble of Rosemount Community Band, is holding its Spring Concert on May 1, which will include several jazz favorites.

The concert will be free to the public and will begin at 4 p.m. at Rosemount's Community Center Auditorium, the orchestra said in a news release.

GJO was established in 2018 by members across the southeast metro, the orchestra said.

Over half of the orchestra's members hold degrees in music and many are also current or retired music educators, GJO said.

The orchestra is directed by Conrad Miska, who most recently taught instrumental music at Eagan High School for 24 years and retired in 2017, according to GJO. The orchestra said that Miska has taught instrumental music for a total of 38 years.

GJO said it also performs at school jazz concerts and festivals, at Jazz Central Studios in Minneapolis and at city band shells and parks.
