Holiday Sports Tournaments Abound for Apple Valley, Eastview Teams

Even though they don't have school, many and high school athletes will be hard at work in different tournaments during their winter breaks. Some of the action is close enough to catch last-minute, while other games require a bit of a drive:

• Apple Valley boys hockey in the Schwan Cup tournament in Blaine, in the silver division. The team lost Monday to Breck, 6-2, and will face Stillwater at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday; Wednesdays games are yet to be determined.

• Apple Valley girls hockey takes part in the Louis Schmitz Holiday Classic in Farmington, with the first game at 3 p.m. Tuesday against Hastings. Eastview girls hockey starts their play in the tournament at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Farmington.

• Eastview boys hockey takes part in the Rochester Kiwanis and ThinkBank Holiday Classic this week in Rochester; puck drops for their first game at 1 p.m. Wednesday against Prior Lake. 

• Eastview girls basketball play Northfield at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday in a tournament at St. Olaf College.

• Apple Valley boys basketball plays in the Granite City Classic at St. Cloud Apollo High School beginning at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday against Buffalo.

• Apple Valley wrestling takes part in The Clash national wrestling duals in Rochester on Friday and Saturday.

• Eastview boys wrestling is in a tournament at LaCrosse Central High School in Wisconsin, where they begin competition Thursday morning against Holmen.

• Apple Valley boys swim and dive hosts several teams in the Eagle Invitational at the pool on Friday afternoon.

And, though not a tournament, the Eastview boys basketball team takes on Minneapolis South at home at 7:15 p.m. Friday.
