Mechanic Wins Rosemount’s Employee of the Year Award

The City of Rosemount has named Mechanic Bill Murphy as its 2013 Employee of the Year.

Murphy, who started working at Rosemount Public Works in August 2002, was one of four city employees nominated for an award that recognizes employees who “provide excellent customer service, achieve savings and efficiency in government, and serve as models of safe work habits.”

In the past year, Murphy helped city crews use a brine solution that melts ice on city streets more effectively. He’s also helped set the specifications for new equipment so that that it’s more economical. In addition, he’s rebuilt equipment that the city would have otherwise had to have paid to repair. In all, his work has saved money and put equipment back into service quicker.

“Bill is very deserving of this year’s Employee of the Year Award,” a release quoted Public Works Director/City Engineer Andy Brotzler.  “Working behind the scenes, Bill’s talents and effort are displayed to the public by keeping our plows on the road, our mowers in the parks, and our squad cars on patrol.  His internal customer service is appreciated by all who work with him.”

Murphy is the 11th winner of the Employee of the Year award. His name will be engraved on a plaque in the upper lobby of Rosemount City Hall with previous winners.
