More Lane Closures to Start This Week on County Road 42

Westbound County Road 42 will be down to one lane near Cedar for the next couple weeks starting this week.

More lane and road closures related to Cedar Avenue construction began last week. Here's what to look for in coming days and weeks:

For two weeks:

  • Beginning Wednesday (June 6), traffic going west on County Road 42 will be down to one lane from Granada to Garrett avenues

For several weeks:

  • The business entrance at Gleason Path east of Cedar and south off County Road 42 (near Panera Bread, Let's Dish, etc.) will be closed; traffic going east on County Road 42 will be down to one lane from Granada to Garrett avenues.
  • Trucks will not be allowed to turn right onto Cedar from County Road 42.
  • Cedar will remain at two lanes in each direction from 136th to 155th for much of the summer.

Other work coming soon:

  • June 22-23: Cedar Avenue will be closed between 143rd and 145th streets west from 10 p.m. Friday, June 22 until 7 a.m. Saturday, June 23.

Construction on Cedar . The county project to accommodate a bus rapid transit system, a station-to-station line that would have buses running from Lakeville to a park-and-ride near the Mall of America and back every 15 minutes during the week.

The goal of bus rapid transit, which also is recommended or planned for other corridors besides Cedar, is to better and more quickly connect the southern suburbs with Minneapolis and St. Paul.

It was announced several weeks ago that the original November 2012 launch date will be pushed back to at least 2013 due to discrepancies over bus station designs.
