Rosemount Community Band Names New Director

The previous director retired after the band's March 13 concert.

DAKOTA COUNTY, MN — Rosemount Community Band, which also has band members from Apple Valley and Eagan, announced that it had selected its new director to replace John Zschunke, who had retired March 13.

Thomas Maeck, who has over 40 years of experience directing both community and high school bands, will be the band's new director effective immediately, according to a news release.

He will continue his current position directing River Valley Community Band in Hastings, Rosemount Community Band said.

His experience also includes :

  • Leading Eden Prairie Community Band
  • Directing Wausau Summer Community Band, the Wausau Symphonic Wind Ensemble and the Wausau Community Jazz Ensemble
  • Working as director of bands at Eagan High School (1989-2016)
  • Working as director of bands at Wausau East High School (1980-1989)
  • Working as director of bands at Willmar Senior High School (1978-1980)

Maeck has a Bachelor's Degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin Steven’s Point and a Master's Degree in Music Education from Northwestern University, the band said.
