Running For Office In Rosemount? File For Candidacy By May 31

ROSEMOUNT, MN — If you plan to run for office in Rosemount this year, you have until May 31 to file to be a candidate on the ballot.
The filing period began Tuesday in Rosemount and closes May 31 at 5 p.m., the city said. Affidavits of withdrawal are due by June 2 to the City Clerk, the city said.
The positions that are up for election this year include Mayor and City Council chairs, according to the city.

You may file your Affidavit of Candidacy form in the City Clerk's office or by mail, according to the city's website. There is a $5 filing fee, the city said. You must also file Campaign Finance Reports.
In order to be eligible to run for local office, you must be at least 21 years old by the time you assume office and also be a resident in the district you're running in for at least 30 days before the election, according to the city's website. Candidates also cannot have any other affidavits filed for any other elected office, the city said.
