This Just In: We're Merging Apple Valley and Rosemount Patch!

Apple Valley, say hello to Rosemount. Rosemount, meet Apple Valley.

To better serve both communities, Patch is merging the sites covering Rosemount and Apple Valley. Beginning Friday, you'll find all the news and information you need for both cities at http://applevalley-rosemount.patch.com.

Patch's mission is to make life ridiculously easy in the towns it covers, and to do that, our sites are designed to reflect the way people work, shop and live. Occasionally, that means we merge sites in towns that have overlapping civic and commercial institutions.

For example, Rosemount residents often shop in Apple Valley, and vice versa. It makes sense, when we ask local residents to vote on their favorite coffee shop or best restaurant for a Mother’s Day brunch, to combine the two cities.

In addition, the two cities are in the same state Senate district (57), and a large chunk of Apple Valley shares a state House district (57B) with Rosemount.

And many parents in both cities send their children to schools that are part of School District 196.

By providing all this news on a single site, we hope to make our service that much more convenient and popular.

This does not mean we’re reducing our efforts to gather and report the news in either city. Allison Wickler, ’s local editor, and Troy Thompson, the assistant editor covering Rosemount, will both remain at their posts, providing regular updates on all the developments that affect the lives of people in both cities.
