Visions for Vacancies: Former Hanson Concrete Property

The 80 acres along County Road 42 is up for grabs for businesses, and the city hopes to plan for its occupation in 2012. What do you think should go there?

This is a big one.

The former Hanson Concrete site is a full 80 acres left unused since the plant closed and took 100 jobs with it. In her in March, Mayor Mary Hamann-Roland said the site would be "master planned" this year.

City officials have said in the past that they hope to attract companies that would provide "head-of-household jobs," and that they didn't expect another large plant would take over the site. Options they thought of were a medical office, light manufacturing and financial and technical services, Community Development Director told Sun Newspapers last year.
