• Devastating Bemidji storm leads community agencies to form lasting connections (bemidjipioneer.com) — A powerful June 21 storm reshaped life in Bemidji, but it also sparked deep collaboration among local agencies, nonprofits and volunteers. From emergency food drops and yard cleanups to a $250,000 disaster relief fund, Bemidji groups built new long-term recovery systems and connections they say will better protect residents when the next crisis hits. 
• In a nod to the New Deal, projects link Red Lake youth to their land (minnpost.com) — A Red Lake hydrologist who found his calling at Bemidji State University is now leading paid outdoor work programs that mentor tribal youth and reconnect them with the land. Drawing on connections with Bemidji’s ski community, he’s expanded recreation, cultural projects, and wild rice restoration efforts that blend environmental stewardship with Anishinaabe traditions and real-world job skills.
• Both UMD hockey teams stay put in the polls (wdio.com) — Bemidji hockey fans will notice UMD’s women’s team is still ranked fifth nationally after sweeping Bemidji State nearly two weeks ago. Both Bulldog squads remain in the top five heading into a holiday break, with their next games set for January 2 against Manitoba and Harvard.
