Buckthorn Dropoff In Burnsville: Upcoming Dates

You can drop off buckthorn in Burnsville this weekend.

BURNSVILLE, MN — Do you have buckthorn in your yard and don't know how to dispose of it? You're in luck- the city of Burnsville has designated times to drop off Buckthorn.

Buckthorn is an invasive species of plant in Minnesota that outcompetes other plants for resources, the city said.

You can bring your buckthorn to the city's compost site, located behind 121st Street and Pleasant Avenue, on the following days:

You'll be able to drop off your buckthorn between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. on the designated days, the city said.

In addition to buckthorn drop offs, the city also has goats eating the invasive plant at Civic Center Park, it said. The project began in 2019 when goats were used for Buckthorn at Rudy Kraemer Nature Preserve, the city said.

The goats will be at Civic Center Park for about one more week, the city said.
